Blended Learning Journeys

Who said that you need to choose between face-to-face and online? You can have both!

A blended learning journey comprises in-person activities as well as live, online meetings and asynchronous exercises, like readings and individual reflections. How will your next learning journey look like?

Client: ParadigMS Foundation

Project: Prognosis

Learning challenge: Translate science into practical medical education for neurologists at European and international level. Create content and opportunities that are easy to access and consume and that are tailored to the busy schedules of the target group.

Learning solution: Blended learning journeys are an innovative way of presenting content, mixing synchronous and asynchronous learning, online and face-to-face methods ad well as tools and materials. One of the journeys we created for the ParadigMS Foundation revolved around “Prognosis in multiple sclerosis”, where first a prognosis tool was developed and then disseminated to a Belgian audience. The tool aims at helping neurologists to make a better prognosis regarding the possible evolution of the disease in a specific patient. On that basis, more accurate and targeted treatment can then be proposed.

LAUREA’s specific tasks:

  • Development and peer review of the prognostic tool;

  • Creation and management of a dissemination plan;

  • General project management.

Results: The programme began with the publication of a scientific article featuring the tool, a live online workshop as part of a wider medical event and four (still ongoing) workshops dedicated exclusively to discussing and using the tool. A dedicated page was also created so that users can have the information they need at hand, and informative leaflets were designed and printed to be distributed as support materials during the workshops.
